I am originally from Forbes, NSW and have a passion for delivering emergency heath care in rural areas. I have four years of critical care experience. This has developed fundamental leadership and critical thinking skills. I have experience treating patients, educating students and coordinating with other members of the healthcare team. I would love to provide education and forward clinical knowledge and technical abilities that I have learnt in this role.
Completed the Advanced Life Support competency and often work as a resus nurse in the emergency department providing one to one care with critical patients and attending MET calls on the ward. I am trained in how to use a manual defibrillator, interpret cardiac rhythms and run COACHED.
Completed the NSW Health triage competency and often work using the Australasian triage scale to prioritise patients. This also involves the recognition, deterioration and escalation of patient care. The busy emergency room setting has allowed me to gain confidence in treating high volume patient turnover and a range of acuity.
I have recently started working as an ED In charge nurse. This has allowed me to develop fundamental human resource and organisational skills. I have experience in managing patient flow, sharing clinical expertise, participating in educational opportunities and liaising with the multidisciplinary team.
