Maddy Bish

I work as a valued member of the radiology team in both CT, general x-ray outpatients and in the ED department. I enjoy being busy and learning new skills.

Some of my job skills include:

• Educating patients on procedure details, provide instructions and answer questions to minimize anxiety and improve cooperation.
• Handle private and confidential information in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Review physicians' orders to determine medical imaging needs and operated radiologic equipment to capture, develop and produce diagnostic images.
• Worked alongside teaching and advising the students on placement and ensuring they are operating at a safe and respectable level.
• Captured images using mobile equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms and patients' bedsides.
• Administering IV contrast to patients to create contrast on CT scans.
• Peripherally inserted cannulas and consented patients for a wide range of studies including cardiac scans and colonography's.

I worked in a health assistant role while full time studying. I worked a saturday shift every fortnight to assist the radiographers with patient transfers and the organization of patient travel from various wards.

Some skills included:

• Lifted patients using appropriate equipment in accordance with moving and handling policy.
• Maintained clean environment with due consideration to health and safety issues and infection control policy.
• I was responsible for booking orderlies and transit nurses as well as coordinating with wards.
