Work History

SENIOR ENGINEERING AND MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT MANAGER

  • Managed the HV network upgrade project and the re-development of factory 04 for mesh production, coordinating all the stakeholders involved.
  • Collaborate on the design and specifications of the new Factory 04 and Factory 03 HV network. Including maximum demand calculations, protection settings, design and installation of the HV RMUs, transformers, power factor correction and dynamic harmonic filters modules, new switchrooms and mainboards for power distribution, calculation of cable sections and factory's new wiring layout to meet the requirements established on the Australian standard AS3000.
  • Design, develop and create documentation for old machinery upgrades, including mechanical, electrical-electronic, pneumatical and hydraulic schematics. For the electrical-electronic, pneumatical and hydraulics schematics I have used the Eplan P8 CAD software, and for the mechanical new designs or modifications AutoCad LT software.
  • Review and convert old obsolete PLC control systems such as Siemens S5 to a newer Siemens Tia Portal 1500 Series PLC, reprogramming PLC codes using different programming languages, like FBD, LAD, and SCL on Siemens Tia portal.
  • Develop and install new control systems on existing machinery, converting Allen Bradley's obsolete RSL Logix 500 series PLC into a new Beckhoff industrial pc based system to improve the level of automatization and positioning control of the concrete steel chairs manufacturing process.
  • Convert the obsolete Allen Bradley panel view graphic terminal to a newer Siemens TP900 Comfort panel creating the new control features by using WinCC software integrated on the Tia Portal platform.
  • Replace the obsolete Lenze 9300 servo-controllers with the newest Lenze 9400 Highline servo-controllers on a meshing machine to avoid future major breakdowns and improve the productivity of the machine by increasing the maximum welding strokes per minute from 80 to 100.
  • Converting the set of parameters from the old Lenze GDC software to the new Lenze Engineer software.
  • Developed the critical spare parts acquisition and minimal stock level program, balancing the budget and priorities.
  • Lead the creation of the network of spare parts suppliers and external contractors for the company.
  • Overseeing the onboarding of new technicians and providing education and training in addition to continuous management of a team of six employees (Day, Afternoon and Night Shift).
  • Developed preventive maintenance programs for the company's machinery, reducing breakdown times and production time losses.
  • Researched and advised the purchase of new equipment for the company's expansion.

  • Employed as an independent external consultant for TEUREMA SL, FAGOR ARRASATE, and SCHLATER Industries AG that produced machinery for steel manufacturing, which involved a deep understanding of process control systems for High-speed positioning of servomotor applications, for the blanking line presses, welding processes, VSD applications for automatic coil feedings controls and hydraulic and water chiller pump systems control.
  • Design the Fail-safe safety systems for the machines in different platforms like Siemens S7 Distributed Safety, and Pilz PSS4000 Series, applying my knowledge of CMSE.
  • Collaborated in designing prototypes and installations, such as a conversion of the old Fagor conventional blanking presses with a flywheel, main motor, clutch, and counterbalance for a newer servo positioning, which improves considerably the blanking press performance by increasing the production speed and reducing the overall cost of the machine.
  • Provided post-sale technical assistance, on-site commissioning and site technical support functions.
  • Team leader for machinery electrical-electronic commissioning. Supervising the correct electrical installation, performing on-site servo positioning fine adjustments, testing and certifying the correct Fail-safe safety system operation, tailoring the automatization cycles of the production line according to the customer needs, and obtaining the signature from the customer for the acceptance certificate.
