Casual Employee - Warehouse Storeperson

  • Currently, I am working as a Warehouse Storeperson at Harvey Norman City West, where I manage Stock, Give out said stock to customers at the back dock, and manage deliveries that come in and out
  • Generally, there is a lot to do every day in the warehouse, work can pile up really fast, however, I always manage to keep on top of things
  • Stacks of pallets need unwrapping, unboxing, stickering and offloading to the sales floor or in the warehouse racking shelves
  • All Taken Care of
  • This is all the while Customers park at the back dock and ask for their appliances, big and small, from vacuum cleaners to fridges
  • That too being something I can complete
  • Some things are heavier than others, which I have become accustomed to, Sometimes I'll need to reach far heights and grab something from the tallest shelf which requires a ladder
  • Still not an issue
  • Everything I have been tasked with doing, familiar or foreign, I can and have adapted to resolving
  • Communicating with my fellow co-workers isn't a problem either, whether they need something from the shelves or require an item to be moved from the shop floor and brought out to the warehouse, Communication has never been an issue
  • Now, after significant cuts to wages and a tremendous decline in shifts, I am looking to move on from City West, as it has served as a good learning ground for future endeavors.

Casual Employee - Cashier Operator

  • From September 2018 to 2020, I was a casual employee at Spudshed Wangara, working as a checkout operator scanning food products and managing currency transactions
  • In addition, I have also done a lot of work outside of checkout operation, stacking shelves and moving other related food items and stock in the store
  • My job involved customer service and I was always willing to assist customers with their shopping
  • Should they have any queries, I was of course, happy to help
  • To note I have also worked a few 12-hour stocktake shifts which were done at the store overnight, the shifts In question were from 6pm-6am
  • The Stocktake involved counting, checking and the documenting of stock on the shelves
  • For me, A great lesson was learned in stock management
  • I used to work approximately 3-4 days a week consistently until Spudshed expanded its store chains and Wangara became a quieter store
  • As a result, Hours were cut, and quite soon after, I had resigned with a 2-week notice
