- After first 12 months of employment I was trained to drive the straddle carrier used to transport shipping containers (20ft, 40ft, 45ft and out of gauge flat-racks) around the terminal, loading them into container rows, loading and discharging trucks and loading and discharging under portainer cranes for loading and discharging vessels

- Other duties involved were some general customer service tasks including answering phone calls, make bookings, quotes, money handling and receipting
- Was required to work as part of a team and meet deadlines, as well as, assist in resolving minor problems
- On most Saturday mornings it was my responsibility to run the air conditioning workshop.
