Summary

I’m a creative, agile and inspiring General Manager, with 13 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, and 10 years in management. From hosting large corporate parties and full venue hires, to running an efficient bar during rugby and football seasons and major events, looking after regulars at our pub quiz to overseeing our busy kitchen, I have supported my team to deliver friendly and prompt service to our guests at all times of day. In my five years at Mitchell & Butler, I maintained high standards by achieving a 5-star EHO and maintaining 5:5 NSF scores at all sites, high engagement scores and guest scores. I pride myself on tackling every aspect of each venue and improving every business I manage. I thrive in floor-focused environments with important attention given to guest engagement and driving sales. I have always been passionate about developing great people and believe there are always opportunities to help individuals reach their full potential. My career has seen me manage teams of 10 to 30. Training others to work with confidence and inspiring them to take initiative to drive sales is where I thrive. As well as developing and retaining talent, I was also recognised for high team engagement in my district. I have proven success in leadership, operational excellence and business development which is why I think I would be a good fit for Friar Oak. My family and I recently relocated to Perth from the UK in September. Now we have settled in I am looking for a new and exciting career.

Work History

General Manager

Castle – Mitchells & Butlers
11.2018 - 09.2024
  • I started my Castle journey at The Angel Inn running a successful pub with tight margins and had a record breaking Christmas
  • Due to Covid-19 and the prospect of the pub not reopening for a few years, I applied to The Walmer Castle, Notting Hill in September 2020
  • There I managed the pub while implementing Covid-19 restrictions, and supported the team with their mental health at a time of great uncertainty
  • The site was sold the following year and I helped staff relocate, and oversaw the pub’s closure and sale
  • That’s when I relocated to Putney and took on the management of The Jolly Gardeners
  • Under my management, the pub’s reputation, cleanliness and team morale all improved within weeks
  • After a year off for maternity leave I relocated outside of London to a larger pub in West Sussex with a cover count of over 300. I managed a team of 25 front and back of house. Within my first month we succeeded in achieving a record breaking week in sales.
  • My main duties over the course of my managerial career have been stock orders & management, cash counting & handling, interviewing, training & vetting team members, health and safety, fire safety & building maintenance, social media management & managing guest feedback.

  • Bury St Edmunds March 2018 - November
  • Following my excellent performance at the Aylesbury site, I was asked to relocate to the Bury St Edmunds site, one of the largest sites in the company
  • There I managed a team of 15, and trained an assistant manager and an external and internal General Manager
  • The site was used to develop other GMs & AMs within the nine bars as it was the “site of excellence” for the company
  • Duties included weekly stock takes with a £0 tolerance, weekly events, recruitment and training, social media marketing, up-keeping high engagement scores with guests and team, targets and P&L control and delivering a high standard of compliance and food and drinks to company specs
  • Eventually the site went up for sale and the unpredictable future of the company led to my relocation to London
  • Aylesbury, January 2017 to March 2018
  • Successfully ran this cocktail bar putting on events and managing and developing a team of 15
