  • I worked for 5 years as a Work Integrated Learning Coordinator at the University of the Western Cape in the School of Public Health (Faculty of Community and Health Sciences). The project was the Theewaterskloof Community Partnership Project. The project was a partnership between the University of the Western Cape and Hogeschool Arnhem and Nijmegen in the Netherlands.
  • I coordinated the placement of students in the School of Public Health (Faculty of Community and Health Science) at the University of the Western Cape.
  • Placements of nursing students, social work students, occupational therapy students, physiotherapy students, sport management students, and sport science students in the rural towns of Grabouw, Caledon, Genadendal and Greyton.
  • Placement of social work students, engineering students, and sport science students from Hogeschool Arnhem and Nijmegen in the Netherlands, in the rural towns of Grabouw, Caledon, Genadendal, and Greyton.
  • I formulated agendas, scheduled meetings and prepared minutes for meetings between the two universities - University of the Western Cape and Hogeschool Arnhem and Nijmegen, the School of Public Health in the Faculty of Community and Health Science and the Municipalities of Grabouw, Genadendal, Greyton and Caledon. Unified meeting plans with non-profit organizations, schools, early child care centers, clinics, hospitals, age care centers, and the police in the rural towns regarding the placement of students.
  • Arranged accommodation for all the students who had their work-integrated learning placement in Grabouw, Genadendal, Greyton, and Caledon.
  • Negotiated lease agreements with landlords and age care centers for the leasing of rooms and houses to accommodate the students.
  • Liaised with the legal department of the University of the Western Cape for contract preparation and document creation for the leased accommodation.
  • I fully equipped and funished all the accommodation and compiled a comprehensive inventory of all the rooms and houses.
  • I organized the induction of students in the rural towns, and the placements at the different agencies.
  • Scheduled meetings with lecturers and students to discuss the research project, and coordinated meetings with academic staff and students to review the research progress.
  • Established two offices and hired two work-integrated learning officers to handle emergencies, address urgent needs, and provide assistance to students during their placements.
  • I supported student welfare.
