Passionate about new technological innovations incorporating therapeutic interventions to improve people's quality of life and overall well-being in the areas of dementia/ cognitive decline, pain management, rehabilitation, and mental well-being, through engagement in meaningful occupations tailored to their interests/hobbies, needs, values and occupational history.
* Assessing client's engagement needs by gathering information regarding their occupational history, interests, values, and beliefs, from the client and their family members of significant others.
* Developing collaboratively an engagement activity plan with ongoing outcome evaluation.
* Modelling activity trials and providing informal coaching or development sessions for care staff, lifestyle staff and clinicians on the floor.
* Sourcing meaningful engagement items as identified through trials.
* Providing environmental recommendations to the care home that may present as barriers for the client's overall engagement and well-being.
* Taking part in Staying at Home respite program designed to impower and upskill support carers in the community, how to best care and support their loved ones diagnosed with dementia, to remain at home as long as possible.
* Facilitating group session around meaningful engagement and the importance of creating a life-story in different forms, for the person living with dementia.
* Undertaking range of assessments as well as information gathering from staff and clinicians in order to have a clear understanding of the person preferences and needs, their medical history and the impact of their diagnoses on their overall well-being, as well as any environmental triggers and approach undertaken.
* Providing carers and clinicians with possible non-pharmacological strategies to implement as a response to behavioural changes through modelling, coaching, as well as development of educational and meaningful engagement resources including behaviour support planning.
* Developing recommendation reports to address findings based on information gathering, records, and observations.
* Liaising with care staff and clinicians to monitor progress and providing support as required.
