I had initially transitioned into this roll because of a injury that restricted me from working in mesh to my full potential. i got my head around what my tasks were easily and i believe i have held this space to a good standard. learning plenty more about company guidelines and industry standards aswell as how to patch broken products. As apart of this roll i also help coordinate what things are to do next and communicate closely with other leading hands to ensure that orders are being produced within there lead times. I also complete all necessary paperwork for the concrete department on a daily basis reporting to production manager.
in doing this role things i have done include
before starting in the roll i am doing currently I spent around 7 months leading the mesh department. this involved making the steel cages and keeping the shed held to a high standard of quality and also housekeeping / organisation. I quickly leant an understanding of consumables and ensuring that we order more before we will run out. in this time i developed a grater understanding of the structural integrity of the concrete products that we produce every day. I have trained a few people how to do this role which helped me to develop further leadership skills and how to keep things running efficiently making sure everyone has work ahead to keep busy. I also learnt problem solving skills and troubleshooting if something hadn't worked how can we resolve the issue.
I was first employed at padman stops to be a labourer working on the floor in 5/10t sheds. in my first couple of months i worked along side the team stripping and preparing the concrete moulds. this was a great opportunity for me to develop understanding of what goes on in the production space and how to put together each individual mould correctly.
i was then lead into the roll of pouring the moulds for the next 6 months i done this efficiently. these are some of the tasks this job involved
Leveled, smoothed, and finished surfaces of poured concrete .
