Summary

Hi my name is Aiden Plumb. I am a hard working young 22 year old male Esperance resident who is currently ‘Living away from home’ for work purposes in Bunbury. I am looking to find a career in the work force that can help me broaden my knowledge, let me gain new and more skills and push me to strive hard for my future. I have a love for operating heavy machinery and ensure that I do so in a safe and efficient way by following all safety guidelines whilst ensuring all production needs are met. I have several years of work experiences in a variety of workforces which include but are not limited to Operating heavy Forest machinery, Farm labourer & Operator, Contract Agricultural Machine work and mechanical work as a Heavy Diesel mechanics trade assistant. I am a hard working, efficient, responsible minded person who fits in well with any group of people that is able to pass a drug and alcohol test at any request. I also currently hold a Hr-B (Synchromesh restricted) Heavy Rigid license, but would be highly interested in obtaining MC (Multiple Combination) if necessary.

  • In my role at L.V Dohnt I worked my way up the ranks starting off in a ‘848 John Deere Skidder‘ to a ‘Tigercat 870c Feller Buncher‘ to my now role as Crew leader whilst operating a 60 tonne ‘Peterson 5000h Flail/Chipper’ all in the time frame of my first 12 months.
  • As acting crew leader I am in charge of making sure my crew get between home and work vice versa in the safest manner possible.
  • I ensure the crew and myself are on time every shift to maximise the days potential.
  • I communicate between my crew members about any issues that have been raised and report to my Supervisors or in some cases Operations Manager.
  • I ensure vehicle and machine Pre starts are taken place by all crew members daily.
  • I operate a Flail/Chipper to the best of my abilities with a strong set standard ensuring the quality of wood chip produced meets standards and regulations.
  • I look over the Flail/Chipper several times over the course of each day to identify any problems that need attention either being mechanical issues or maintenance carried out by myself and the crew to ensure our product meet’s standard.
  • I guide the crew members throughout each day as it comes. Making plans for the next day and making sure everyone is aware of what needs to be done to get ahead.
  • I adapt daily plans based on employee availability, supervisor requests and weather conditions.
  • I ensure that the loading of the wood chip transport trucks is correct via scales on the trucks to comply with road laws and regulations.
  • I ensure that all daily greasing and services are up to date throughout the machines on site
  • I make myself available for any shift I need to work. My main work days are Monday to Friday at a minimum of 14 hours a day, occasionally Saturdays and the occasional Night shift when needed.

  • After working in the Esperance region for 2 years and 9 months I was approached by the C.O.O of L.V Dohnts and asked if I would be interested in moving to Bunbury and working away from home, working by myself running a ‘Peterson 5000h Chipper/Flail’ in the Preston Chip Mill owned and run by ‘Wapres (Western Aus Pine Rescources)’.

A list of my daily Duties involves but is not limited to

  • Solely and independently Running, Maintaining and Operating a 60t ‘Peterson 5000h Chipper/Flail’ all whilst unsupervised to the absolute best of my ability ensuring that maximum production is taking place but also ensuring that the machine can keep up and is being looked after like it is my own.
  • Showing up for work 5 - 6 days a week on time, Fit and ready for work in the required P.P.E And carrying out anywhere between 12 - 15 hour shifts daily.
  • Working in an environment and town with no co workers in the same uniform as myself meaning that all my work is done unsupervised.
  • Carrying out daily requirements ie - Daily Greasing, Daily pre start checks, Daily hotspot checks, Daily knife changes on the machine and weekly de-barking flail chain changes to ensure the product I am creating is to the best standard it can be at.
  • Daily Reporting of any mechanical issues & production reporting to my bosses who are located in Albany W.A, Perth W.A and Mount Gambier S.A.
  • Carrying out basic mechanical maintenance on the machine such as but not limited to, Helping Contract Mechanic’s carrying out Engine services every 250hours on the C32 motor, Hydraulic system services every 250hours. Also carrying out fortnightly inspections of all gearboxes, pumps, pump drive and slew motor oils to ensure that all components are properly lubricated. Changing/Replacing Hydraulic hoses and fittings when needed.
  • Ordering Parts, Tools, Lubricants and other things needed for the job with a Purchase Order book and sending off filled out copy’s of book to my bosses to be put in the online system. Answering phone calls and organising pick ups/drop offs of such goods.
  • Making and answering daily phone calls from Bosses about maintenance issues and helping problem solve and come up with ideas to fix said issues. Also phoning contract Mechanics when major work is needed. Filling out Maintenance Request forms and sending both bosses and mechanics copy’s to organise and ensure correct resources are being charged out to the correct job.
  • Ensuring end of day clean up is done correctly and efficiently with a leaf blower so ensure all fire hazardous materials have been removed from the machine, to raking up all the reject product like bark and fines from under the machine and around my work area and then finally scooped up/pushed up with the bobcat into a big pile ready for collection.
  • Keeping house keeping to an impeccable standard ensuring no foreign materials that will cause contamination are left laying around ie Plastic, clean/dirty rags and any rubbish.
  • Delivering Chipper knives to the workshop daily to be re sharpened to ensure that spare sharp knives are available when needed. Keeping count of the amount of lubricants I have on site and ordering replacements when necessary.

Hobbies

As someone my age I have several hobbies in life. To list just a few, Spending time with loved ones such as close family members and friends. I have a huge interest in exploring being that either 4x4ing along the beach, exploring national parks and their amazing beaches, camping and being out doors. I also want to find a career that I will have for life, I am the kind of person who wants to work hard and kick my future goals out of the park.
