I am a dedicated and passionate educator with a wealth of teaching experience, a diverse skill set, and a commitment to creating a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment. My journey in education has been marked by continuous growth and learning, both for my students and myself.
I Completed a Bachelor of Education. I have 10 years of experience teaching students K-6. I started my teaching career as a targeted graduate in 2013 and have had the opportunity to work with every stage and year group in a variety of roles. I successfully developed and implemented outcome-based programs in my role as a classroom teacher, RFF teacher, EAL/D and LAST teacher. I continuously adapt my teaching materials to meet the evolving needs of my students. These programs focused on explicit literacy and numeracy teaching based on individual needs. They were written using school assessments, PLAN 1 & 2 data, Best Start records, and the literacy and numeracy progressions. I understand the importance of tailoring my teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and abilities. I use a variety of instructional strategies, such as project-based learning, cooperative learning, and technology integration, to make learning accessible and exciting for all. I strive to create a warm, safe learning environment for my students. Creating class rules is a collaborative process, helping to promote a level of ownership and mutual respect. I use restorative language and practices to build, maintain and restore positive relationships with my students. Throughout my years in the classroom, I have had the opportunity to work with kids with additional learning needs and behavioural challenges. This invaluable experience has provided me with a deeper understanding of what is means to create an inclusive classroom environment, one in which all students feel safe and included. It has helped to strengthen and refine my behavioural management skills, minimising the challenging behaviours that might prevent students from learning and supporting students to make positive choices.
I use formative and summative assessment techniques to gauge student understanding and provide timely and constructive feedback. This helps me adapt my instruction to meet individual learning needs. I am proficient in integrating technology into the classroom to enhance learning experiences. I use digital tools, interactive whiteboards, and online resources to facilitate a more interactive and engaging educational environment.
I am committed to lifelong learning and regularly engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest educational trends and research.
