As a student, I assisted in the delivery of high-quality patient care through effective communication with the interdisciplinary healthcare team across 2 weeks. I worked alongside experienced nursing professionals to learn new procedures and skills. I had the opportunity to observe and assist nursing staff to provide optimal healthcare to patients.

Over the 4 weeks I was a student doing a clinical placement, I was able to practice the skills learnt under the scope of a student to provide efficient and optimal care under the supervision of registered nurses. While on this placement, I independently was able to monitor patient vital signs, and report any changes to experienced nursing staff.

Developed nursing skills under the guidance of experienced preceptors, implementing evidence-based practices for optimal outcomes, and was able to support the nursing team by assisting with administrative tasks such as charting updates, supply inventory management, and scheduling appointments when necessary.

Switching into the shoes of a student paramedic, I was able to observe and assist in particular areas, where high levels of care was given to patients in need of transportation or assistance. To enhance the efficiency of completing jobs, I assisted in completing vehicle and equipment checks. I also communicated with the patients, and recorded relevant vital signs, history and information to pass onto relevant healthcare clinicians.

In my current role, I am responsible for many aspects of the store, to ensure it continues to run at an optimal standard for both the staff and customers. Firstly, it is my responsibility to greet and serve customers, process their transactions, and make their drinks to a standard that we are proud of. As a team leader, I coordinate the staff accordingly, to ensure that there is a steady flow of drinks being made in efficient times. Additionally, in quiet periods, I am assisting the staff to maintain a clean and sanitized environment. I also have the responsibility of counting the money at the start and end of the day, make bank deposits, and make appropriate orders of all the supplies needed to ensure the smooth running of the store.
