As a Solution Architect on the West Margrave program,I lead the analyses, design and implementation of the West Margrave Digital portfolio. This included a specific focus on the following :

  • Technology Infrastructure services : Analysis , Design and Implementation of OT and IT Hosting platform including all other supporting technology services like backup, Remote Access , etc.
  • Data Platforms : Development of Data Strategy and Data Platform for WMG
  • Mining Systems : Analysis and Architecture framing of Autonomous Fleet Solution
  • Production Systems : Development of PlatPax High-Level Design
  • Business Applications : Following the BHP Architecture Development Process to facility the design and deployment of business application into the West Musgrave and larger BHP Eco-system.
  • Architecture Development : Implementing a Agile based Architecture development process. Note : After the BHP merger I transformed this process to align with the BHP Architecture development process.

Some of the key activities I was responsible for included :

  • Designed and developed high-level and detailed solution architectures for Digital systems.
  • Obtained sign-offs from the relevant stakeholders and architecture governance bodies
  • Ensured quality control by verifying adherence to approved requirements and engineering standards during each phase of a project's development
  • Discussed design specifications and procedures with project manager, engineering team and construction manager.
  • Reported on status of design process and cost analysis to project manager.
  • Maintained effective relationships with external vendors and partners in order to ensure successful execution of projects.

While working at BHP, I served as a Program Architect for various MinAus East and South projects. During my time; BHP employed a triad resourcing model for each program, consisting of a Project Manager, Solution Architect, and Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Throughout my tenure, I had the opportunity to contribute to several significant projects, some of which are highlighted below :

  • Olympic Dam Village Security Uplift : Replacement of CCTV Management platform and physical access control systems to align to new village security standard.
  • SmartPlant cloud Migration : Replacing legacy on-prem SmartPlant application with new cloud based IaaS and PaaS deployment.
  • Tailings Dam Monitoring Uplift - Implement a fibre optic and dam level monitoring SaaS solution that track structural changes and alert on potential dam wall failures.

  • A strategic priority in Delivering Digital 2016-2020 is the Education Management System (EMS) Program: a multi-year transformation towards a process of continuous improvement, where integrated systems and data facilitate improved care and learning outcomes
  • The EMS Program aims to deliver, for 2019-2020 a Cloud-based Education Management Platform that integrates with the department’s on-premises BI data platform and other downstream systems via an integration middleware solution
  • Albert was the lead Solution Architect across all streams of work

  • As part of HP’s Data Centre Transformation Programme, Albert worked as a Solution Architect leading a cross-functional global virtual team in whose primary aim was to assist HP’s clients in their data centre transformation journey
  • Albert’s key responsibilities included: Performing an in-depth as-is analysis of the client's current environment that spanned all architecture domains (Motivation & Strategy, Risk & Compliance, Business, Data, Application, Technology and infrastructure)
  • Leading the development of a data centre transformation strategy to move clients from their existing data centre to the new HP data centres or HP’s cloud platform

  • The role required Albert to work closely with the BHP Uranium Enterprise Architects and the Uranium CIO
  • Albert's key responsibilities included: Leading the development of a four-year Strategic IT Road Map for the Olympic Dam project Transforming Strategic intent to portfolio initiatives Leading the development of transition solution architecture designs to implement portfolio and project initiatives
  • Ensure alignment and compliance to BHP Uranium’s EA framework Input into the development of RFI’s and RFT Working with Vendors to align solution capabilities with architecture requirements Ensure compliance of all architecture and solution designs with BHP Uranium’s health and safety compliance framework
