Results-driven BD Analyst with experience in financial modeling, market research, and strategic analysis within the critical minerals & renewables sector.
IGO Ltd is an Australian-based mining and exploration company focused on discovering, developing, and delivering critical minerals such as nickel, copper, and lithium, which are essential for clean energy and battery technologies. As an analyst in the BD team, I contribute to the company's mission via the following key responsibilities:
Delorean Corporation (ASX:DEL) is a vertically integrated renewable energy company specialising in bioenergy. Delorean seeks to implement anaerobic digestion (AD) facilities in Australia to curb organic waste going to landfill and produce renewable gas/electricity for the grid or behind the meter. Working within the infrastructure team at Delorean, I assisted on the full life cycle of project development from initial due diligence and commercial analysis to FID and commissioning.
Chieftain Securities is a boutique corporate advisory and venture capital firm based in Perth, Western Australia. Chieftain works primarily in the metals and mining space via owning, operating and funding businesses.
Notre Dame University selects 10 students studying commerce to manage the student-run investment portfolio which holds over $150,000 in shares on the ASX. The team would meet weekly and discuss aspects such as how we might grow our positions through emerging markets, solidify our risk through diversification or divest shares via a vote.
Hamish Jolly - Executive Chair & Founder | Delorean Corporation
"In my capacity as Executive Chair of Delorean Corporation, I'm pleased to provide an employment reference for Alexander (Xander) Buckland.
Xander was employed in June 2022 in a graduate role by the company's Infrastructure division. As Project Development Analyst and reporting to the Project Development Manager, Xander formed part of a small team taking accountability for the feasibility and development (to ‘investment ready' status) of commercial scale bioenergy assets (circa $15-$30m project size).
In the graduate role, Xander provided support to the Project Development Manager across a broad spectrum of disciplines and deliverables, including support in modelling and project feasibility reports, sourcing and commercial contracting of supply and by-product offtake agreements, project development tracking and status reporting, preparation and lodgement of regulatory, compliance and funding submissions, and support of detailed investor due diligence in projects.
Xander managed well in a small team with a range of competing priorities and limited resourcing and time for day to day guidance. He demonstrated a capacity to handle different types of workstreams, a commitment to the work itself and an interest in the wider business.
In particular, he took accountability for the difficult task of building a portfolio of commercial feedstock supply agreements to help underpin the bankability/investability of two major projects, including the cold-sourcing of prospects.
In our view, Xander's experience with Delorean in helping prepare projects to investor-ready status would position him well for further development of his career on either side of infrastructure development – that is, on the project development side or on the investor/financier in terms of project feasibility and due diligence.
Xander's role was made redundant due to a restructuring of the division. We wish him all future success in his career".
