Personal responsibilities within the Product Handling are;

Personal responsibilities within the Kilns/Yard are:

• Monitoring Dryspec and Drytrack Programs to control kiln environments.
• Maintain kiln temperature equipment and report faulty equipment to maintenance.
• Temperature calibration tools are used to confirm kiln temperature probes are accurate and constant operational readings are achieved.
• Carry out pre-start checks on kiln and associated equipment.
• Carry out daily moisture reading checks and recording data on log and computer terminal, this information is used to further the drying process and determine what actions must be carried out to achieve the recommended Australia standards for kiln drying.
• Loading of timber to kiln trolley and operating hydraulic/electric motors to drive trolley in/out of kilns.
• Optimized machine settings to achieve superior product output, meeting and exceeding production targets.
• I take pride in keeping a safe and clean work environment and ensuring any oil, grease or timber is removed eliminating hazards.
• Covered supervisors roll as required.
• Streamlined workflow by identifying bottlenecks in the production line and suggesting improvements.
• Current senior first aid certificate.

Responsibilities taken on in addition to requirements:

• Taking the lead in a Kiln computer system overhaul and update project, completed 2024 Nov.
• Rewriting or updating Kiln Work Instructions for all Kiln operations, completed 2024 Dec.
• Safety officer for kilns.
• Fire officer for Kilns/Yard/Log Yard.
• Driving of Front end Loader for Log Yard when required.
• Assisted in training new operators, sharing knowledge of best practices and promoting a culture of teamwork amongst peers.
• Provided on-the-job training to newly hired workers and team members.

• My duties involve monitoring the flow of timber to ensure it continues to flow at the desired set rate. I’m required to monitor and maintain specialist equipment which includes scanners, x-rays and printers. These tasks use multiple computer programs to select and record data of the timber’s quality. I also choose boards for testing timbers structural integrity. I then compile this information into useable formats for review and fault finding.

• I process green timber through a kiln drying process to reduce timber products to their optimum moisture content for structural building material. I organise the loading and unloading of timber racks and control kiln operations to produce timber to specified requirements. I conduct moisture tests to ensure we reach the exact specified moisture content for bearers, decking, lining, joists etc. I’m responsible for the kilns safe operation and keeping a safe working environment for myself and other employees.

• Including timber grading and sorting I have taken on extra responsibilities by successfully completing an aptitude test to commence training as tally operator (test copy attached) As a Tally operator I have taken on the responsibility of creating ID cards for the structural and non-structural wood products we currently produce (detailing size length and grade). Along with other duties I have taken on training other new staff members on dry mill operator duties. I have completed a chain saw operators training for the safe use of chain saw’s.

• Maintaining the above areas (restocking, cleaning) customer service and setting up promo events (e.g. Toy sale, Christmas). During the time I was employed I successfully completed a RETAIL OPERATIONS 2 CERTIFICATE, I have also carried out relief supervisor roll when required.
