  • Monitoring Dryspec and Drytrack Programs to control kiln environments.
  • Maintain kiln temperature equipment and report faulty equipment to maintenance.
  • Temperature calibration tools are used to confirm kiln temperature probes are accurate and constant operational readings are achieved.
  • Carry out pre-start checks on kiln and associated equipment.
  • Carry out daily moisture reading checks and recording data on log and computer terminal, this information is used to further the drying process and determine what actions must be carried out to achieve the recommended Australia standards for kiln drying.
  • Loading of timber to kiln trolley and operating hydraulic/electric motors to drive trolley in/out of kilns.

  • My duties involve monitoring the flow of timber to ensure it continues to flow at the desired set rate. I’m required to monitor and maintain specialist equipment which includes scanners, x-rays and printers. These tasks use multiple computer programs to select and record data of the timber’s quality. I also choose boards for testing timbers structural integrity. I then compile this information into useable formats for review and fault finding.

  • I process green timber through a kiln drying process to reduce timber products to their optimum moisture content for structural building material. I organise the loading and unloading of timber racks and control kiln operations to produce timber to specified requirements. I conduct moisture tests to ensure we reach the exact specified moisture content for bearers, decking, lining, joists etc. I’m responsible for the kilns safe operation and keeping a safe working environment for myself and other employees.
