Work History

Lead Electrical Engineer

Monash Nova Rover
01.2021 - Current

This is a student engineering team that designs and builds lunar/mars rovers to bring to the international University Rover Challenge (achieved 2nd place) and Australian Rover Challenge (achieved 1st place).

  • Coordinated an electrical team to provide power, low level control, computation and hardware communication for all rover systems, managing projects with Gantt charts
  • Designed overall electrical architecture for the robotic arm, liaising with the arm team for requirements and specifications
  • Designed custom BLDC motor driver implementing Field Oriented Control
  • Designed RS485 to CAN translator and voltage regulator for the robotic arm
  • Coded inverse kinematics for the Spherical-Parallel Manipulator for the robotic arm, in ROS2 C++
  • Created lectures and contributed to documentation for knowledge transfer.

Reinforcement Learning Summer Research Project

Monash University
12.2023 - 02.2024
  • Created Python code base to train and evaluate performance of reinforcement learning algorithms.
  • Implemented probabilistic temporal ranking and Fourier feature augmentation to optimize maze traversal, resulting in 40% training speed boost.

Path Planning Software Engineer

Monash Connected Autonomous Vehicles
01.2019 - 01.2021
  • Coded the Hybrid A* algorithm in ROS C++ in a linux environment for the path planning of an autonomous car.
  • Innovated on the algorithm by designing a radially decaying potential field around obstacles, making paths safer and smoother. The pre-processing reduced planning time from 10s of seconds to 300 milliseconds.

First Responder

St John Ambulance
01.2016 - 01.2021
  • Treated various injuries at major events and venues, looked after and talked to patients
  • Communicated with first aid teams under high stake situations
