My passion for knowledge, healthcare and people started early in my career as I pursued a career as a researcher in Cytogenetics for over 10 years at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Although this role satisfied my thirst for knowledge and helping others, it lacked patient interaction which I believe is one of strengths. Thus I decided to change careers and within 6 weeks I became a realestate agent (as my husband and I were into renovating and selling houses for many years prior). Joining First National Nitschke as realestate agent, I was promoted within 6 months to manage the Springlake Land Development in Mt Barker. Management included selling blocks of land, managing all pre and post sale clients, managing all sales settlements with conveyancers, working with builders, engineers and marketing teams. This role needed strong communication skills, the ability to build rapport with people quickly, strong organisation skills and the ability to work independently on many moving parts whilst under pressure to meet KPI targets. I thrived in this environment for many years before aiding in my families business Marine Plus Aquariums due to family illness. My previous skills and employment made it easy to take over as Director in my families business. With over 10 employees to manage, and sales experience, I continue to grow this business from strength to strength. As a now owner of this business, it has allowed me time to become a volunteer Ambulance Responder, Ambulance Officer student with the South Australian Ambulance Service or SAAS. I am stationed at Strathalbyn and contribute to our roster at least once a week. My background and love for science and healthcare combined with strong people/ communication skills fuels my passion for this rewarding position. I believe becoming a Paramedic is my calling and I look forward to being able to serve my community at this level in the future.
