• Providing high standard, person centered care to children and young adults with disabilities and complex care needs.
• Extensive responsibility being the only nurse on site at certain times of service operation, acting as shift co-ordinator and delegating tasks to other team members.
• Responsible for 'on-call' duties while on shift, involving the provision of clinical guidance to support workers working alone in the community with medically complex participants in emergency situations.
• Providing skills training to new staff (ie: Bi-PAP, PEG, NIKI Pump, Nasogastric feeding) and health implementation coaching.
• Liaising with families of service users, building a rapport with same and offering support and guidance when required.
• Visiting service users in the community to complete clinical assessments and/or train staff in the home environment.

• Working across a wide variety of clinical settings with varying needs according to patient/client population.
• Extensive experience in acute mental health wards, forensic mental health and intellectual disability residential units.
• Comprehensive understanding of the needs of clients who communicate non-verbally.
• Assessing the mental state of the patient, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans.
• Building therapeutic relationships with patients to encourage trust, while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns.
• Help patients manage their emotions through de-escalation techniques and in circumstances whereby patient safety is compromised, the use of VPM holds, Mechanical Restraints and/or seclusion areas.
• Extensive responsibility as member of the Emergency Response Team, clinical escorts and supporting clients with mental health tribunals.

• Providing high standard nursing care to 8 service users with mild-severe intellectual disabilities who present with behaviours of concern and mental health concerns.
• Extensive responsibility being the only nurse on site at certain times of service operation and first point of contact for up to 24 other residents on site requiring nursing support in non-nurse units.
• Subsequently designing and implementing support plans to positively support these needs utilising recognised approaches such as MAPA techniques (regularly reviewing same and adjusting as needed).
• Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for clients experiencing mental health concerns.
• Implementing relevant critical nursing skills in the clinical area (ie: stoma care, rectal prolapse reinsertion, intramuscular routes, wound care, positive behaviour support, etc)
