I have a strong background in community engagement and outreach with the ability to foster relationships, build partnerships, and drive impactful initiatives. I am skilled in communication, event planning, and project management. I enjoy teamwork and have skills in adaptability, and achieving measurable results. I am known for reliability and flexibility in meeting changing needs.
During my medical degree I have held positions on the New England Rural Club for Health Alliances (NERCHA), during my time on the committee I have organised and attended eight rural high school visits, four information evenings for students in health with external organisations such as the Rural Doctors Network (RDN), Australian College for Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and Royal Australian College of General Practictioners (RACGP) and a rural immersion trip to Tenterfield for 12 Medicine and Nursing Students to showcase living in vibrant rural towns.
Outside of my committee role, I am asked by the Head of School and Admission Officer of the School of Rural Medicine to encourage and mentor new and prospective medical students, who have children, that studying medicine is achievable with family commitments. I have been able to encourage five current applicants and students to apply. My hope is that sharing my passion for rural medicine will mean more applicants to medicine will stay in rural areas as rural practitioners.
