I have owned and run my own business since 2003 as a self employed bricklayer and employed a team of bricklayers. I specialised in high end builds and worked with a range of home builders including Metricon, Carlisle, Simmonds, Henley, AV Jennings and many smaller builders.
Managed all administration and bookwork as a contractor and employer of up to 4 staff. I managed Workover requirements, FairWork requirements, all aspect of maintaining a safe and productive workplace to meet the requirements of the contract I was working under. Point of contact for site supervisors.
- Trained apprentices/new hires on proper techniques and best practices.
- Measured distance from reference points and marked guidelines to lay out work.
- Assisted with estimates regarding cost of labor and materials for clients.
- Prepared for each job by accurately laying out wall patterns and foundation plans.
- Calculated mortar and brick quantity needed for job.
- Ensured safety protocols were followed on all worksites.
- Interpreted blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate project completion.
- Set up scaffolding in accordance with safety regulations.
- Conducted quality control inspections of completed work for accuracy.
- Collaborated with other construction team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Inspected existing structures for safety issues prior to repair work.
- Provided guidance and instruction to apprentices on proper techniques.
- Communicated with clients to provide project estimates regarding materials and labor.
- Adhered to operation and safety instructions when using equipment and tools including lock-out tag-out and confined spaces safety procedures.
- Determined required materials, job requirements and task priorities according to work orders.
- Acquired and maintained high skill level in construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of masonry structures and surfaces.
