Life Experience

I have always had a different outlook on life as my twin brother was diagnosed with Down syndrome at the age of 3. At a young age, I had to sacrifice a lot of things for my brother as he was in and out of the hospital a lot. More recently, my mother had a serve stroke, to which she lost her ability to take care of herself and others. Without a father in the picture, these serve life circumstances forced me into independence and has given me the ability to care for others. Having disabled family members has also taught me how to be patient, considerate and resourceful as now, I have a bigger responsibility of caring for my mother and brother.

Leadership Experience

  • I was class captain, from year 7 to 12
  • I had to foresee events planned for the class and grade, and plan events.
  • I was elected as my peers looked to me as a trustworthy, reliable, was able to manage a lot of responsibilities, and an organized person able to keep everything on track.
  • I was also a Crew Coach at McDonald's which gave me the responsibility of training and teaching new employees

Volunteer Experience

  • Sony Camp foundation, Volunteer, 2022
  • I had to look after children with disabilities for a 3-day camp period.
  • I worked closely with other volunteers, staff, and Sony employees to create a positive and supportive environment for young people to learn and grow. I developed strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills through working with diverse groups of individuals. This experience was once in a lifetime opportunity which I am grateful to have been selected for.
