Selection Criteria Response – SC1

Capacity to undertake routine support tasks across a range of functions within a school environment. I have completed a Certificate III in School-Based Education Support and undertook my placement at Epping Views Primary School. During my placement, I had the opportunity to work across different year levels, supporting classroom teachers and students in diverse learning environments. In this role, I supported teachers by preparing learning materials, assisting with classroom organisation, and reinforcing literacy and numeracy activities for individual students and small groups. I worked closely with students requiring additional support, helping them stay engaged with classroom tasks and encouraging positive behaviour through consistent guidance and clear communication. My placement provided me with practical knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum, Learning Plans (LPs), and the importance of prior knowledge in lesson delivery. I supported students in achieving their Individual Learning Plan goals by following teacher direction and implementing structured activities aligned with curriculum expectations. I demonstrated strong organisational skills by managing time effectively, completing assigned tasks promptly, and maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment. I worked collaboratively with teachers and other education support staff to ensure students’ wellbeing and academic progress were prioritised at all times. Through this experience, I have developed the confidence and practical skills required to undertake routine education support duties, including classroom supervision, resource preparation, student assistance, and behaviour support, while contributing positively to the school community.
