Summary

I have always had the biggest passion for dance from a very young age. At the age of 7 my mum enrolled me in a local dance school and for the 11 years that followed my whole life became everything dance. I trained 4-5 days a week, committing myself to being the best dancer and performer I could be, entering the competitive dance world with most school holidays spent competing in events all over the state. In 2013 I was chosen to travel to America and perform at Disneyland, Universal Studios and on Hollywood Boulevard with my dance studio. It was the trip of a lifetime and only grew my passion. I then went on to complete 2 years of full time dance at Jason Coleman's Ministry of Dance where I grew my skill set undertaking classes from some of Australia's most influential choreographers. I was given opportunities to dance in events such as the AFL Footy Show Player Revue, the NRL Grand Final in Sydney and Perfect China Ball at the Pallidium in Crown Casino. After graduating I dove into dance teaching at some local schools, passing on my passion and knowledge for dance to children ages 10-18.

In June 2020, during one of our many lockdowns, I took a leap of faith into a whole new industry, completing my Certificate III with the Holmesglen Institute. My course was predominantly held online however I was always keeping ahead of my studies finding the content informative and something I thoroughly enjoyed. With covid delaying my placement to complete my certificate I decided to begin applying to centres and that's where I found my first job in the early learning world with The Village ELC. I quickly found a love for being an educator, being an extra set of hands for the children, implementing activities, getting to know and form friendships with families and most of all creating new found friendships with the little ones. Two months into my new found position I was approached by my centre manager to become a room leader of the 2-3's room after they saw my eagerness to continue learning and ability to be a great team member who showed a lot of leadership potiential. I always had a love for leadership and I was over the moon to be offered the position, accepting it immediately. Part of this job title included daily observations of the children, planning several activities a week that aligned with their interests and calendar events, recording yard check lists, capturing photos of the children, continuously changing learning environments for the room, creating portfolios for 26 different children, writing term reports and weekly reflections for the families all while leading a strong team to ensure the day ran as smoothly as possible and the children were being provided with the best care we could offer. My love for English during school years has helped me majorly successfully enter this role as I feel I hold strong literacy skills and a very professional voice in everything I write. It comes very naturally to me and I always love to go above and beyond to include be as informative as I can to ensure the parents feel as involved as possible when it comes to the children and their ever growing learning. I am a creative and energetic Early Childhood Educator professional devoted to offering diverse activity plans and experimental learning opportunities to enhance individual development. I have always had a passion for children and watching their identity develop day by day, week by week this can be seen through my extensive dance teaching over the years. I consider myself to be friendly, supportive and motivated with strong desire to promote potential. I am focused on creating a safe and inclusive environment where children can develop a strong sense of self and are given the resources and guidance to form the foundations of development. Working at Mentone Grammar School I understand how important it is to be prepared for the day ahead, pre planning lessons and creating a diverse curriculum to ensure the children are always engaged and excited to learn. I am dedicated to social, emotional

and physical needs of infants and toddlers through fostering bonds with each child and their family toward common goal of creating safe, fun environment encouraging exploration. My experience in the dance world allows me to bring some of my expertise to an early childhood environment where I can feel confident creating dance related activities and yoga/pilates. I am invested in supporting emotional, social and academic development of young children, with a desire to complement education-based strategies with techniques to promote overall health and wellness. I am committed to attending professional development seminars, faculty meetings and parent-teacher conferences to remain connected to the needs of children and parents. I am always willing to better my skills and continue learning to make myself the best educator I can be for young children, undertaking my Bachelor of Early Childhood teaching where I am now half way through the course.

I have been longing to return to the dance world and when discovering your ad listing it made me realise that with my knowledge and experience combined of the two industries I can really reach my optimal teaching ability doing something that not only I love but that I believe I could excel at.

Work History

Co Educator

Firbank Grammar School
08.2022 - Current

I began my role at Firbank working short morning shifts where I would work alongside one other educator as the Before School Care (BSC) team from 7-9. During this time I built strong relationships with children of varying age groups, being a comforting, familiar face first thing in the morning and someone who could help a tricky morning transition feel a little easier. Prior to the arrival of the students, sometimes up to 20 in the program, the mornings consisted of setting up the BSC space to make it vibrant and inviting, with resources that provided rich learning opportunities for the children within the space. From this BSC period I would then be an additional support to the ELC3 team. Here I would assist in any way I could, sometimes with children with behavioural issues or just to assist with extra supervision and scaffolding learning. After 3 months in this position I was then offered to be in charge of BSC and my work in the classroom increased, working within all five of Firbank's ELC classrooms. I took on this role with great confidence and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Due to my covering schedule requiring me to move around a lot I was able to get to know the entirety of ELC children and staff and became very competent at picking up each rooms procedures and routines, very quickly adapting myself to new situations and environments. I was passionate about using my prior knowledge of dance and music to create spontaneous group times between transitional times of the day, seeing the children's love for moving their body and the benefits it has on their overall wellbeing. I demonstrated. I demonstrated respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed, considering myself a valuable member of the education team. I was able to support children when confronted with conflicts, using critical thinking to break down problems, evaluate solutions and make "green choice" decisions. The skills and knowledge I have learnt from working alongside such professional, passionate teachers and co educators has completely changed my practice for the better.
