
I just freshly graduated as an EN (Enrolled nurse) as I am striving towards my Bachelor's of Nursing mid year to become a RN (Registered nurse). I have hands-on experience in clinical environments such as aged care, and sub/acute settings, which focuses on patient care and teamwork.
I am skilled in clinical assessments, medication administration, and care plans with a commitment to adhering to healthcare policies, and fostering effective communication within multidisciplinary teams and patients. I am eager to learn and develop my skills once I start working as a nurse. I am proactive and focused to deliver high-quality care, and reflect on my professional development to consistently grow in my career.
Acute placement in a regional area, I completed my last placement of Diploma of Nursing:
Duration: 3 weeks
- Administered medications such as (IV, IM, Oral, Subcut) from medication chart under supervision of RN.
- Implemented and applied knowledge of medications, as well as when to withhold under clinical assessment, and signs and symptoms to look out for after treatment.
- Tied all my knowledge with documentation, comprehensive clinical health assessments(reporting out of the normal ranges, and interventions to increase patient condition), care plans, wound assessments, IV therapy, communication skills including handover and communication with the disciplinary team, daily ADL'S, and chronic and acute conditions with interventions with guidance of the doctors.
- Being a part of a few MET calls.
- Taking on a full patient load with minimal assistance, asked for help if I was unsure and being supervised for medication administration.
- Adhering to policy and procedures per hospital policy and APHRA.
Subacute placement in a regional area, I completed in my Diploma of Nursing:
Duration: 2 weeks
- Administered injectable medications and tablets (IM, Subcut, Oral) supervised with my RN.
- Implemented and applied knowledge of my third semester medications. As well as, learn all different medications I was unfamiliar with.
- Started taking a light patient load, and learning to incorporate my daily shift planner at the start of my shifts.
- Learned and applied knowledge on wound assessments and care.
- Applying care plans and interventions with acute and chronic conditions with my RN.
- Implementing comprehensive clinical health assessments and how to apply interventions to improve a patients condition.
- Communicated with the disciplinary team, through handover and care plan status. As well as, if there was any issues that needed to be dealt with.
- Improving my progress notes and documentation under the supervision of my RN.
- Adhering to policies and procedures per hospital policy.
Mental Health Placement in a Dementia Ward I completed in my Diploma of Nursing:
Duration: 2 weeks
- Monitored and applied patient care through comprehensive clinical health assessments, and care plans with my RN.
- Improved my communication skills with the disciplinary team through ISBAR handovers and care plan status.
- Learned and took care of residents with various mental health conditions, as well as undertaking a MSE.
- Monitored patient vital signs and reported changes to healthcare team for timely interventions.
- Completed daily ADL'S with these residents including feeding.
- Improving my progress notes and documentation under the supervision of a RN.
- Demonstrating and applying communication skills towards diverse people and backgrounds, and how to apply nursing care to their needs.
- Adhering to polices and procedures, such as scope of practice, duty of care, and APHRA code of conduct.
First aged care placement I completed in my Diploma of Nursing:
Duration: 3 weeks
- Monitored and applied patient care through comprehensive clinical health assessments, and care plans with my RN.
- Improved my communication skills with the disciplinary team through ISBAR handovers and care plan status.
- Monitored patient vital signs and reported changes to healthcare team for timely interventions.
- Taking care of elderly residents such as daily ADL'S, showering/bed baths, changing, etc.
- Adhering to polices and procedures, such as scope of practice, APHRA code of conduct, and infection control procedures.
