  • Electoral practice - Advised independent candidates, charities/not-for-profit organisations and other political participants/advocacy organisations in the lead up to NSW, QLD, VIC, NT state/territory elections, Federal election and Voice to Parliament referendum.
  • Faruqi v Hanson – Acting for Senator Faruqi in Federal Court proceedings against Senator Pauline Hanson under the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) (RDA). The proceedings involved complex constitutional questions including whether sections 18C and 18D of the RDA impermissibly burdened the implied freedom of political communication, and whether the RDA is by any head of Commonwealth legislative power.
  • Adani Mining & Anor v Pennings - Defending an environmental activist against proceedings brought by Adani Mining and Carmichael Rail in the Supreme Court of Queensland for tortious claims of breach of confidence, intimidation and conspiracy. The proceedings relate to Pennings' involvement with an advocacy movement which sought to protect the Galilee Basin from coal and gas extraction by opposing the development and operation of Adani’s Carmichael Mine.
  • Newman v Minister for Health and Aged Care - Administrative challenge to the Biosecurity (Human Biosecurity Emergency) (Human Coronavirus with Pandemic Potential) (Emergency Requirements—High Risk Country Travel Pause) Determination 2021 which restricted Australian citizens residing in India from returning to Australia during COVID.
  • Commonwealth telephone voting laws - prospective administrative law challenge to restrictions which would have prevented thousands of COVID affected voters from voting in the 2022 Federal Election.
  • Torney & Ors v Victorian Electoral Commission - administrative law challenge to Victorian Electoral Commission decision to refuse to register the how-to-vote cards of independent candidates.
  • Nyunt v First Property Holdings Pte Ltd – appealing the registration of foreign judgments obtained in Singapore exceeding US$66million, where the dispute had previously been submitted to the Courts of Myanmar. Further challenge seeking special leave to appeal to the High Court of Australia.
