Hobbies and Interests

  • Owning and maintaining a classic car. The car has undergone a sympathetic restoration during the 30 years I have owned it.
  • Restoration of an ex MTT bus. More a retiral project. The bus is in the good hands of the Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia (BPSWA)
  • Participating in motor sport both as a driver and marshal.
  • Attending and participating in classic car meets.
  • Travelling (20 cruises so far)
  • Motor racing.
  • Learning to airbrush. Self teaching.
  • Cooking. I do all the cooking at home and love my time in the kitchen. Not so keen on the clearing up and washing dishes.

What is a sympathetic restoration?

1969 Bentley T1. Full bare metal repaint 25 years ago. Rolls Royce trained painter - 11 coats applied. In the last two years I have revived the leather including filling and recolouring. All stainless steel has been polished and original pin-striping reapplied to the body and wheel covers. The paint has been refinished, cut and polished and a ceramic coating applied. The interior of the car has been thoroughly cleaned and detailed. Driver's carpet repaired and a new carpet fitted in the boot. A modern radio, and speakers, has been installed discretely leaving the original in the centre of the dash.
