Angel McDermott

During my time working as an Endorsed Enrolled Nurse I have gained experience in various specialties including aged care, neurology, renal, cardiology, surgical, orthopaedics and spinal at The Prince of Wales Hospital whilst working on the Nurse bank. I have built excellent relationships with both members of the staffing team as well as NUMs, educators, Registered Nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. I have gained experience in:

• Practicing directly under supervision of Registered nurses
• Delivering quality, safe and patient-centred care
• Working collaboratively with Registered Nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to achieve patient goals
• Empowering patient's to take control of their own healthcare through communication, active listening and advocating on behalf of the patient
• Performing patient assessments and contributing to patient care plans
• Administering medications; including intravenous medications
• Experience with automatic dispensing cabinets (Pyxis)
• Checking schedule 4 and 8 medications with the Registered Nurse
• Assisting patients with activities of daily living
• Escalating patient concerns to relevant team members
• Admitting and discharging patients
• Experience in time management with patient loads of 3-6

During my time studying I have been placed at various hospitals and wards under NSW Health. These include gynaecology, liver, renal and gastro, neurology, respiratory, ICU and mental health. During these placements I have:

• Worked directly under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Performed patient assessments and reporting back to the Registered Nurse
• Administered medications safely under the guidance of a Registered nurse
• Attended to activities of daily living
• Gained experience managing chest drains and non-invasive ventilation
• Observed the management of arterial lines and central venous access devices

• Working directly under the supervision of a Registered nurse
• Assisting patients with activities of daily living
• Assisting patients with mobility
• Performing patient observations and escalating concerns to the Registered Nurse
• Helping to maintain a safe and clean environment
• Contributing to documentation including vital signs and progress notes when necessary
• Working collaboratively with Registered Nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
