My role as a student Nurse was to following in the shadows of the AINs (assistance in nursing) and the registered Nurses to comfort the residents by addressing pain management needs and assisting them with activities of daily living such as showering, eating, walking, taking medications, using the toilet.
I worked for many different families.
One of the families I worked for was just for me to look after the kids while the parents worked at home. I kept them entertained by playing games, working on puzzles, reading books, and going outside to play in the fresh air.
Another family I worked for was just for me to do morning pick ups and drop offs and I would babysit the kids occasionally.
I also babysat a little 9 month baby just help the mum if she needed to go out to shop, or to go to work.
My role was to engage with the children to make sure they had a great day by playing some fun, energetic, educational games. I then made to supply food and read them stories until pick up time. I worked with ages 1-5 years old
