Break the Cycle is a grassroots campaign that advocates against the human rights violations occurring at Juvenile Detention Centres. Within my role as founder, I have recruited volunteers, organised protests, liaised with NGO's, politicians, and media outlets. I have created petitions, curated the social media accounts, written newsletters, liaison with local artists to create merchandise. I have organised fundraisers which included carefully curated silent auctions, local bands and Q&A's from politicians and activists. I have also assisted families to find additional emotional and legal support.
At Wild Bakery my responsibilities included opening and closing the store, conducting stock take and managing inventory levels, working the till and assisting customers with orders. Working in a high pace environment assisted in cultivating problem-solving skills and how to work efficiently in a team.
My role as retail assistant included communicating with customers/giving recommendations for gifts and various products. As well as cleaning, stock take, working with a till and EFTPOS machine, doing cash count at the end of the day (settling bank), running the social media for the business/online website marketing, and educating myself on various products e.g., where they were sourced and what they are made from.
