Skills

Over the course of the months from November 2024 to May 2025 I participated in several deployments to the fire line where I learnt skills to effectively suppress and control fires using dry fire fighting techniques such as rakehoe line and back burning as well as using water and foam

Often times using drip torches and matches to ignite specific areas to then back into the oncoming fire reducing the fuel load in front of the fire as well as any potential fires in the future

Gained a proficiency in the use of pumps and hoses to move water from the nearest water source into the tanks of firefighting vehicles as well as directly being used on the fire

Experience in walking through bush land that has been burnt looking for hotspots that have potential to reignite the fire while maintaining awareness of dangerous trees and other hazards around me
