Hello! My name is Ani and I am a 27 year old primary school and middle school Relief Teacher. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with children in both professional and volunteer environments. From a young age, I knew I wanted to work as an educator and have found my passion to continue to strengthen over the years. I have had the privilege of professionally developing through being exposed to many diverse learning environments especially in my teaching career over the past 4 years. While I have had a significant number of offers for fulltime classroom teaching positions, and have completed a 6 month and 6 week contract as part of my journey, my priority has been in providing myself the opportunity to gain experience and see a variety of teaching environments and schools ranging from preschool to year 10. Over the course of this time, my exposure to the complex and diverse culture presented within every classroom I have taught in and stepped into in Darwin, has sparked a passion to delve deeper into the wellbeing space that can impact students ability to learn more effectively in the classroom. I have seen the power of wellbeing programs, such as the Berry Street Model, being implemented effectively, and children consequently feeling nurtured and safe, something some of them are not afforded the opportunity of feeling in their own homes. This year I have delved deep into educating myself in Trauma informed practice, using my own time to undertake professional development through the Australian Childhood Foundation, read books on trauma and wellbeing practices, listen to podcasts and speak with professionals such as principals and teachers who have decades of experience. I strongly believe that implementing wellbeing and inclusion practices in an effective way, is not only life changing for students, but provides a more stable and sustainable professional environment for teachers as well. My extensive and diverse experience would be a complement to this position alongside my acknowledgement that I would be a keen learner along the way, picking up new skills.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application.
