The Housing and Place Manager, Yarra Housing provides leadership and management of high-quality tenancy, property and asset management services across the Housing estates
My role provides the team support and supervision in the daily operational needs to ensure public housing renters have access to the support they need and support the Directorate’s office with reporting and management of priorities
The role also allows me to work closely with community groups to continue this support and ensuring staff have strong stakeholder relationships to meet the needs and demands of renters
Manage a team of housing staff including Team Leaders, Senior Housing Staff and Housing Service Officers in the day-to-day management of public housing and placed based support
Leading the tenancy and property management including rental arrears, vacant management, dispute and complaints management and other operational functions
Support the development of staff including building capabilities and skills
Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and operational budgets for the area office - implement new reporting tools and review current strategies to ensure improved outcomes and achievements
Support the North-East Melbourne Directorate office, including Area Director and Deputy Secretary to ensure the department’s key priorities are operationalised and delivered
Stakeholder relationship with community groups, local council, department program areas and contract management of Head Contractor
Implementation of reporting tools for core KPI and priorities across Yarra Housing to ensure all three housing offices were in line with the Arrears and Vacant strategies
Implementation and facilitation of Yarra Housing Property Workplan to improve efficiency and output of work for the management of assets
Participation and driving of the Yarra Zero, Homelessness Initiative and Connecting Fitzroy Network
These two community-based initiatives to support local people into safe homes with support has been a great achievement
It has allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the work of the local agencies and increase collaboration of services
Building a strong positive workplace culture – addressing concerns as they arise and ensuring procedures are followed through with conciseness and transparency
Building capacity of staff – ensuring staff have PDP updated and support their goals through Learning and Development, Supervision and establishing opportunities for them

The Housing Services Reform Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing a series of housing reforms to better align housing services with resident needs and outcomes
The role works in partnership with the Paving the Way Forward Lead to operationalise resident-centric reforms across public housing estates and serve as an important conduit between residents and policy-makers
Identifying opportunities where improvements can be made to housing delivery services and reflect the needs of residents
Providing support to place-based initiatives to operationalize housing reforms
Working closely with onsite staff, residents and stakeholders to support them in implementing changes
Commencing the Maintenance Pilot initiative and project planning to ensure better outcomes for renters – which is now known as the Local Maintenance Pilot Crew (LMRC)
Creation of new and improved communication resources to increase knowledge and empowerment of renters
Building relationships between Homes Victoria and DFFH housing program areas
Multiple and Complex Needs Coordinator

The Multiple and Complex Needs Initiative’s (MACNI) primary purpose is to facilitate coordination of supports and services to people with complex needs, deliver holistic care and present further escalation of need
The role also included Support for High-Risk Tenancies Initiative
Consultation and coordination of services and facilitate service planning for clients including chairing and managing Complex Need Panels and Care team meetings
Facilitate relationships between departmental program areas and external services including, Family Violence Networks, National Disability Scheme, Mental Health Service Providers, Aged Care and Aboriginal Services
Partner with service providers to develop integrated responses and promote practice excellence
Identify systems gaps, risk factors and training opportunities that will improve service systems for clients with complex needs

Overseeing the management of approximately 4000 public housing properties, including responsive and upgrade maintenance, asset development and future planning of stock
Tenancy Management including rental rebates and arrears, complaints and other operational functions

Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and operational budgets for the area office

Prepare high-quality correspondence, to respond to department’s complaints including Ombudsman, Ministerial and complaint responses
Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful tenancies and staff support
Successfully achieving targets for KPI’s across all areas of operations (arrears, vacant turnarounds, home-visits)
Successfully maintaining local area budgets – maintenance, workforce and other expenditure
Leading a successful team through strong communication, supervision, strategic planning and ensuring better outcomes for renters
The creation and implementation of HOPE (housing Options for People in the East)
A placed based initiative with Uniting to offer those seeking housing with options and information
This program continues to operate today and works in collaboration with Front End Services, and Housing areas
Community Development Project – Alamein Avenue, Ashburton (receiving a Housing Award 2021)
Assisting in the development and implementation of Older Persons Community Development Project in response to a post-COVID need for the elderly and vulnerable renters in the IEMA
Participating in the Regional Family Violence Area Panel (RAMP)– High Risk and Vulnerable persons
