ANNABELLE BOWEN

• 12 month program in rural facility providing health care for a population of approximately 700 residents
• Dirranbandi hospital has a high dependency care unit, 7 acute beds and 6 aged care beds
• Delivers care on a 24 hour roster with in-charge and on call requirements
• Triage and manage emergency presentations, including treating unstable and deteriorating patients
• Respond to changes in the acute care setting while responding to and caring for emergency presentations
• Providing care to paediatric, acute adult and elderly patients
• Liaise with and organise transfers with support services and the multi-disciplinary team, such as RSQ, RFDS and QAS
• Effectively communicate between patients, their family, carers, community and other allied health members in a professional manner.

• Provision of patient centred care for high risk post-operative patients
• Undertake in-charge responsibilities to coordinate shift on a 30 bed ward
• Caring for patients with surgical drains, maintaining wound care and administration of blood transfusions when required
• Preparation and management of PCAs
• Assisting consultants with doctors rounds and feedback updates to team
• A collaborative approach when advocating for patients and their families and when care planning within the multidisciplinary team.
