My previous working life consisted of working in the travel industry. I thoroughly enjoyed working in various aspects of leisure, business and consolidation. My favorite aspect was meeting and developing a great working relationship with clients and creating memorable travel experiences.
I finished working in travel and have three great children and a fabulous and supportive husband Peter. My three daughters are 12, 7 and 4. The past 11 years have been spent as a primary care giver. I have really loved watching my daughters grow and creating a great life. The past two years of lockdowns has really taught me the importance of patience, balance, how important connection and social skills plus life stills are.
During this time, along with my husband Peter, we have successfully renovated and designed 4 house renovations. I have enjoyed designing, researching and helping to executive these projects. I have also done home staging with my own house projects. This led to artistic painting. After taking many art classes, I learnt different techniques such as mixed media, abstract, still life, seascapes and portrait. I created my own website and participated in some art shows. I sold some art work and really enjoyed painting. I understand how art therapy can be a powerful tool in helping people overcome life challenges.
I have also created my own workouts to complete with friends and really enjoy working in small groups and helping people. I really enjoy being in nature, exercising and being active. I play tennis, run, do boot camp and do the occasional cold water swim at the beach.
I have held various roles at Kunyung Pre School as a Social representative, maintenance officer and fundraiser organiser. I enjoy being apart of a community and can see the benefit of helping and giving to a greater cause. I also have offered support over the years to a close friend with babysitting support whilst also looking after my three children. This has taught me important management skills with juggling multiple children.
I have also spent many years working with my eldest daughter who had literacy gaps. We have spent a lot of time and effort filling prior gaps. My daughter worked closely with a speech therapist and I have really enjoyed seeing the transformation from a student who was quite behind to a student who is doing really well and thriving. I really appreciate the effort it takes for people to overcome challenges and I would love to help others to achieve their best life.
Like many parents, I had multiple children at home doing remote learning whilst dealing with a preschooler. This was a very challenging time but I learnt the importance of helping my children meet their learning goals, taking time out in nature and maintaining social connections with family and friends.
I would be very excited to become an Allied health assistant. Kate Driver has given me an insight into the work experiences with neuro diverse clients. It sounds very interesting and rewarding work.
