Head of People & Culture

Pathzero

Pathzero is an Australian scale-up (60FTE) helping the financial market measure and manage corporate and financed emissions through technology and consulting.


In this role my main responsibility was to enable the team to do their best work, while safeguarding Pathzero's unique culture. As a member of the Management Team and the first dedicated P&C employee, I defined Pathzero's Employee Value Proposition and 'People Pillars', and I set up and managed all HR related processes and systems.


Key projects & achievements:


  • Successfully grew the team from 20 to 60 employees in 18 months. Developed an efficient and effective internal recruitment process, receiving only positive feedback from hiring managers and candidates about the recruitment experience.
  • Defined Career Growth Paths for all teams, providing employees with perspective and goals, whilst helping managers with setting the right expectations with their teams.
  • Organised several company events (in-person and virtual), including workshops, masterclasses, and team building activities. All events were rated 8.5+/10 in post-event surveys.


Other responsibilities:


  • Functioned as a coach and sounding board for managers, and supported them with topics such as talent development, difficult conversations, and team engagement.
  • Day-to-day management of HR related tasks, including the performance management cycle, salary reviews, HR compliance, admin, etc.
  • Implemented and managed all internal policies, such as a leave policy, flexible working, and overtime arrangements.
  • Developed and executed Pathzero's hiring strategy, including recruitment, onboarding, and managing the ATS.
  • Managed Pathzero's Learning & Development program, including access to a Learning Management System for all employees.
  • Managed and improved internal communications by facilitating schedules and templates for messaging for for example All Hands calls and internal news letters.
  • Conducted and analysed monthly Employee Happiness surveys, and advised the Leadership Team based on the data.

FincoEnergies (formerly GoodFuels & GoodShipping)

FincoEnergies (150FTE) is a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions. Within the Finco Group, I worked for GoodFuels & GoodShipping; an impact driven start-up (30FTE) and global pioneer in biofuels and sustainable shipping solutions.


After having been at the company for two years, I was asked to set up the People & Culture function for GoodFuels & GoodShipping. My main responsibility was to ensure a happy, empowered, and well-performing team, while the company went through significant internal changes. It was a standalone role based in Amsterdam, but with a dotted line to Finco's wider People & Culture team in Rotterdam.


Key projects & achievements:


  • Co-wrote and presented a people strategy, which included a three-year plan for the organisational chart and reporting structures. Organised a 3-day offsite to engage with the team about the strategy, and the company's mission and values.
  • Significantly improved hiring and onboarding process, for example by organising 'welcome week' for new employees.
  • Developed a new way of doing performance reviews, based on factors such as company values, and an employee's tenure.

Commercial & Team Lead

GoodShipping

Sustainable shipping start-up within the FincoEnergies Group, offering companies a way out of fossil fuels for their freight shipments.

Successfully co-developed, launched, and managed this new sustainable shipping initiative.

Key projects & achievements:

  • Recruited and managed the GoodShipping team.
  • Signed GoodShipping's first large clients, such as IKEA.
  • Developed and improved client proposition, in close collaboration with GoodShipping's first customers and partners.
  • Presented GoodShipping at events, pitching contests, and live radio.

Director of Student Recruitment

EF Education First is an international education company that specialises in language training, educational travel, academic degree programs, and cultural exchange.


As part of a big international team, in this role I was responsible for recruiting and enrolling students for EF's undergraduate program. I set out the recruitment strategy for several European markets, and managed a team of international recruitment and enrollment coordinators (8FTE).


Key projects & achievements:


  • Continuously ensured an engaged and enabled team and successfully had them achieve their recruitment targets.
  • Built a steady network of partners for the company in North-Western Europe.
  • Improved processes to streamline the pre-enrollment student journey by organising events and setting up a buddy system.

Ambassador & Alumni Manager

In this role I managed EF's alumni and ambassador program in the Netherlands, and was responsible for the overall level of engagement of EF's Dutch alumni community.


Key projects & achievements:


  • Recruited new ambassadors by approaching students after returning from their program abroad.
  • Organised trainings and workshops, so ambassadors could support the sales teams when informing new students.
  • Created an online portal to promote and simplify contact among ambassadors and new students.
