  • My roles and responsibilities at The Muswellbrook Hotel consisted of the following:
  • Serving large crowds in a fast paced environment whilst adhering to state laws regarding alcoholic beverage services and customer regulations.
  • Handling large sums of money when counting the tills of a morning and replenishing floats, and for pokie machine payouts, operating TAB and TAB payouts.
  • Working shifts as a kitchen hand during restaurant hours wherein I would assist the chef in producing a range of dishes and specials, including making pizzas, sauces and gravies, prepping large quantities of vegetables and other produce.
  • Organising bar inventory and storage procedures to keep stock within optimal levels and meet expected customer demands.
  • During quiet hours I would also assist in deep cleaning the kitchen and bar areas, vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting all areas.

  • Since starting at The Botanist I progressed from a bartender to a Bar Coach which is a role that I worked extremely hard to achieve.
  • In achieving this role it pushed me to take initiative, develop my communication and leadership skills.
  • My role as a bar coach consisted of training new members of staff, undergoing a very trying 2 weeks of written and practical tests
  • I worked hard to ensure that every new member of staff that I trained was trained with a personalised approach to ensure that their needs are catered to in order to help them develop their own skills.
  • For example, some trainees prefered to learn cocktail specs by reading them, some prefer a more tactile approach wherein they 'bottle-touch' to remember cocktail specifications.
  • At the botanist I learnt how to positively deal with difficult/intoxicated customers, build rapport with customers and staff, develop my multitasking skills in high pressure, fast paced situations and environments, all whilst delivering unrivalled customer experience.
