Supported the facilitation of Australian University students(up to 30 students) undertaking an immersive experience through their university Engineering degree (specifically a Humanitarian Engineering unit).
The Humanitarian Design Summits, were hosted by EWB in their country offices in Cambodia (Feb 2024) and Timor-Leste (June 2024) along with implementing partners in various communities takes students through rapid human-centered design processes.
Being a mentor on a 2-week long immersive involved a few weeks of prep ahead in-country, as well as facilitating team members in human-centered design methodologies, international development, the SDGs, appropriate technology, and participatory approaches to development. It also involved mentoring team members and supporting them in navigating ethical interaction with community members.
Additionally, my mentorship role entailed being the key safeguarding and health and safety representative, creating risk plans and reporting incidents when they occured. Overall, our team of 7 staff were responsible for team and student health, well-being, and safety.
