In September 2007 after completing school, I started my first job with Grays Online as a junior storeperson. I took up the role as I was starting my apprenticeship in February of 2008 and wanted to start working as I had 5 months until I was to commence. This was a great opportunity to get into a good work routine and experience a working environment before I went into my trade.
I started my apprenticeship as a Boilermaker in 2008. I learned about the basic skills of the job and progressed throughout time. In 2012 I Completed my TAFE certificate III Engineering Heavy Fabrication Trade (MEM30305) and became a qualified Boilermaker. My job required me to be assigned my own jobs which involved to independently complete a project from start to finish which involved reading drawings, fabricating the job and going on site to install it. I was also given the responsibilities to train and teach new apprentices. In this role, I acquired skills such as learning to work within strict deadlines, learning to work under pressure, good communication, organisation and prioritising, rapport building and having good clientele relations.
In 2012 I joined GraysOnline as a storeperson and was given general duties tasks such as sweeping the floors, dock hand, sorting out pallets, preparing jobs and organising the warehouse. In 2014, I applied for a job in the Whitegoods department which required me to manage the booking in of stock, following the receiving processes to keep my team within the correct timeframe as well as meeting set KPI’s. I simplified the booking in process which i presented to management and was then implemented across all departments in the warehouse. This significantly reduced time and cost for the business which also reduced room for error. Due to the extent of my knowledge and experience within the business, in 2022 I was also given the responsibility to manage 3 off site warehouses for the business. I was a first aid officer for the business which required me to attend and treat staff or customers for any medical attention. I was a part of the GraysOnline safety committee which required me to attend monthly meetings and report any safety issues to the management board and work towards a solution for achieving these issues to get resolved. During my employment I completed internal warehouse courses for leadership responsibilities, WHS awareness, GEG Whistle blower policy, workplace bullying and occupational violence, global anti-bribery and corruption, forklift Safety, privacy awareness and manual tasks
From approximately the later half of 2023 until current, I had to take some time off due to some unforeseen health reasons however I am ready to return back to work and am looking forward to being able to have this opportunity again.
