  • Developed and deployed multiple machine learning models into production to solve diverse business problems from prediction of customer exits, interpreting emails through NLP and using computer vision systems to interpret and process invoices automatically
  • Deployed systems within the AWS cloud environment
  • Extracted and assessed data from databases to drive improvement of product development and business strategies and processes.
  • Applied statistical and algebraic techniques to interpret key points from gathered data.
  • Utilized advanced querying, visualization and analytics tools to analyze and process complex data sets.
  • Identified, measured and recommended improvement strategies for KPIs across business areas.
  • Built company A/B testing frameworks to test model quality.
  • Developed polished visualizations to share results of data analyses.

Founder

Disease Adviser Pty Ltd
01.2019 - Current
  • Developed a geospatial vector borne disease risk warning platform
  • This has been awarded a patent for the core technology in Canada and is undergoing assessment in Australia, India and the USA
  • I have also provided consultancy services to the World Health Organization, for which I developed a SOP for the deployment and use of early warning risk and response systems for infectious diseases throughout the South East Asia region.
  • Developed strong partnerships with other businesses to allow for collaboration and more significant opportunities for growth.
  • Identified business development challenges and customer concerns for proactive resolution.

Founder

Spectrosopy and Data Consultants Pty Ltd
01.2018 - Current
  • Founded Spectrosopy and Data consultants Pty Ltd
  • I provide consultancy services to startup and scale-up med-tech companies situated in Brisbane
  • I also developed predictive models for infectious diseases used in securing a contract worth >$500,000 from the Bill and Malinda Gates foundation
  • This work will further develop our capability to detect mosquitoes infected with various vector borne diseases using artificial intelligence.
  • Provide biostatistical and AI support for local med-tech startup companies

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute
09.2016 - 01.2021
  • Led analysis of all projects in the gut health group
  • Primary analyst for the Australia and New Zealand Inflammatory Bowel Disease Consortia
  • Performed most of the analysis personally including biostatistical analysis as well as training, testing and deploying machine learning models
  • Supervised PhD students in both biostatistics and machine learning
  • Analysed multi-site medical data collected from the Royal Brisbane and Women's hospital and other major hospitals from across Australia and New Zealand
  • Developed multiple disease risk algorithms that underwent peer review and are published in reputable scientific journals
  • The two main risk algorithms I developed during this time were: 1) A pre-colonoscopy risk assessment algorithm for precursors to colorectal cancer 2) An ileal Crohn's disease risk predictor (https://www.qimrberghofer.edu.au/ileal-crohns-risk-predictor/)
  • Leveraged interpersonal and communication skills to mentor PhD, graduate and undergraduate students.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Queensland Brain Institute
01.2016 - 09.2016
  • I developed and deployed a pipeline to generate personalised structural connectivity patterns fibre tracks in the human brain
  • This was used to identify different structural patterns of physical fibres in the brain which showed specialisation of sub-structures of the brain.
  • Liaised with supervisor to review grants and manuscripts to develop potential publications.
  • Contributed to and actively participated in research conception, design and execution to address defined problems.
  • Pursued independent and complementary research interests.

Researcher

Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology
02.2014 - 01.2016
  • I developed advanced analytic models of brain behavior in people with mental health conditions using graph theoretical metric techniques
  • I further applied machine learning techniques to develop a predictive algorithm to differentiate between healthy people and those with anorexia nervosa
  • Furthermore, I supervised multiple Masters' and PhD students
  • Provided guest lectures and master classes in brain imaging, statistics and machine learning in Germany, Ireland and Australia.
