Responsible Dam Engineer

  • Location: Saraji and Caval Ridge Mines.
  • Perform or oversee routine dam inspections of the tailings facility.
  • Develop and refine tailings plans, monitoring and systems that will achieve regulatory and GISTM compliance.
  • Working with the site teams and design engineers to develop and execute short and long-term construction and maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Work with the engineer of record to continuously improve and implement the quality assurance and control, construction monitoring, and dam surveillance programs.
  • Provide necessary reporting to site, corporate, and government agencies.
  • Maintain an action log of required tasks and their current status to ensure compliance and adherence to delivery of these tasks.
  • Coordinate activities with Consultants, Project Engineering, Processing, Environmental, Mine Planning/Production, Closure, contractors and Government Regulators as required.
  • Oversee the engagement of various contractors for the purposes of field investigations at the TSF.
  • Provide updates to operating, maintenance, and surveillance manuals, along with emergency preparedness and response plans, and other management system documents.
  • Work to achieve and maintain compliance to GISTM in line with corporate objectives.
  • Manage and track the site water balance and report to the water steering team.
  • Supporting dam related projects ranging from asset integrity, closure, flood management, stability remediation and in-pit tailings storage solutions.

  • I provided both Caval Ridge and Daunia Mine sites with technical expertise and governance to assist with the asset integrity requirements of dams on site.
  • Managing the risk of our dams portfolio in accordance with industry guidelines.
  • I assist our project teams with governance on dam remedial works, as well as managing a range of assessments, analyses, and studies.

  • Location: Poitrel Mine/Red Mountain Infrastructure (CHPP)
  • Supplied technical engineering support to Poitrel; I focused on providing value-added governance to ensure that Poitrel's operational blueprint meets relevant national and BHP standards, as well as legislative requirements.
  • I also worked alongside multiple departments to problem solve mine site issues and safely deliver innovative strategic solutions as part of our CAPEX pipeline, enabling ideas to become a reality through our projects.

  • Provided Civil Engineering technical support to not only projects team. But also managing asset integrity and compliance of the mine site's civil, tailings & water dams, CHPP, structural and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • I focused on creating remediation plans to manage the risk of defects and other potential hazards on-site ensuring engineered solutions were created for maintaining these assets.
  • I reviewed civil engineering reports and audits in line with global, regional, and company standards, as well as the risk management system.
