Key responsibilities and accountabilities (as a Registered Nurse):

• Preparation of post -operative unit and receiving pediatric /neonatal patient after immediate post cardiac surgery and continuous cardiac monitoring
• Perform procedures like medication administration, feeding babies including tube feeding, warmer care, suctioning, I V therapy, TPN, blood transfusion, Invasive cardiac monitoring
• Handle commonly used equipments in the critical care units like Cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, ventilators, ABG machine, ACT machines, ECG page writer, crash cart, Bair hugger, Glucometer etc
• Perform CPR, care of children on ventilator, endotracheal tube suctioning and assisting with intubation and extubation
• Mananging phototherapy and exchange transfusion
• Assist the patients and significant others to obtain knowledge regarding their disease process and self-care through utilization of proper resource
• Evaluate and modify the plan of care based on observable responses by the patient and the attainment of patient goal
• Ensure open and timely communication with the patient, their significant others and team members to ensure effective therapeutic communication

• Directs, manages and evaluates Nursing staff learning in the clinical setting.
• Prepares preceptors for their teaching activities and approaches specific to the level of the learner
