Position Overview:

• The Environmental Service Worker is responsible for kitchen, dining room, laundry and cleaning duties within a Residential Aged Care facility. The Environmental Service Worker contributes as an integral member of the Seniors Living group and supports activities aligned with the strategic direction of and consistent with the mission and values of Churches of Christ.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the preparation of meals; maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment.

2. Assist with the serving of meals, including setting up and cleaning the dining room, trolleys and trays.

3. Responsible for laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, folding and distribution of linen and resident clothing; maintain the cleanliness of the laundry and equipment.

4. Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the facility’s residential areas.

• Checked temperatures of freezers, refrigerators and heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Cleaned and sanitized work surfaces, equipment, utensils, dishes, or silverware.
• Followed health and safety guidelines for food preparation and service.
• Maintained cleanliness of work areas throughout shift.
• Maintained order and cleanliness of work areas to conform with health codes.
• Trained new kitchen hands in basic tasks, safety protocols, and kitchen standards.
