Aquila Porter

This was my seconded experience working outside with plants however it was very different to the nursery work i had done previously. Within this role i learnt all skills needed to complete every job at hand. This included, planting, pruning, irrigation, excavator operation, basic carpentry skills, welding, and general job management. Many days i was left to organise the team at hand and appoint jobs to ensure that we were meeting the deadlines for jobs.

In this role i honed my customer service skills assisting people on what plant the needed to fulfil the roles required. While keeping on top of general nursery design and maintenance. (watering, mulching, pruning and weeding).

i started out in front of house running coffee and food, I always kept on top of running the orders out when they were ready to unsure customers were satisfied with the quality of food, and left every shift knowing i had made a valuable contribution to the workload of that day. i then decided to try working in the kitchen to develop a better skillset catered to this industry. i started on dishes and moved my way up to doing food prep and cooking chips for the cafe. i really enjoined this style of work as i could focus in at the one task at hand and constantly see how efficiently i was completing tasks needed.
