Summary

I think my biggest work achievements would be the “student safe taxi” initiative i built while working at the university of Essex. After months of planning and trying to get it approved it is my proudest achievement. The initiative means any university student who doesn’t have any safe way to get home, or money to pay for a taxi, can simply call our taxi drivers, they will pick you up from anywhere at anytime, and drop you off home safely. All you have to do is show the driver your student ID. I was able to find a scholarship program who pay the taxi company back weekly. Then our students for 3 months to pay us back. It means no student ever has to feel unsafe with no way home. It decreases drunk driving. Since the initiative launched drunken sexual assault crime has decreased by 58% in 2 years. It took a lot of time, effort, organisation and thought to get it up and running but there is no better feeling as a student welfare co-ordinate/ student councilor knowing that every student gets home safe.
