  • Ensure supervision and monitoring of individuals on reparation and/or other orders
  • Undertake direct interaction with individuals regarding the resolution of issues pertaining to reporting requirements and their ability to comply with order conditions.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to risks arising from individual management including appropriate liaison with management as required.
  • Ensure the timely provision of service and advice to courts, boards and other agencies regarding offenders.
  • Complete the administration of contravention documentation for individuals subject to community-based orders and/or other orders in consultation with Case Management Officers.
  • Develop productive relationships with service providers and the community generally to enhance the community's regard for probation and parole services.
  • Conduct drug testing of individuals and maintain accurate statistics as required.
  • Prepare accurate and timely breach documentation.

  • Prepare for Court hearings.
  • Review the Court list for the day.
  • Reviewing the list of new/overnight arrest and identify if there are any additional matters.
  • Collecting on-strength information supplied by supervising probation officers for any people currently subject to a sentence or order.
  • Collecting information from departmental records for people who have previously been subject to a sentence or order.
  • Determining whether an opposition to bail is required.
  • Making sure you have all the required files in the correct format.
  • Ensure you have all PAC reports and memos that have been completed.
  • Familiarising yourself with the content of any relevant provision of advise to Court reports (pre-sentence reports).
  • After the Court hearing make sure all of the information you've noted down is recorded in the appropriate place in IOMS and hard file. This includes the outcome of any breach charges or applications to Court as well as general sentencing.
  • If a person is sentenced to home detention contact the local service centre immediately so they can arrange for the person to be electronically monitored.
  • I have been the Court Liaison between the Department of Corrections and Ngati Ranginui Iwi supporting offenders referred by the Tauranga District Court.
  • Facilitated access to wrap-around support services to encourage early engagement with approved service providers prior to sentencing.
  • Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to monitor offender participation and program compliance.
  • Provide updates and notifications to Probation Officers regarding program completion as well as engagement outcomes
