  • As an AHLO I worked closely with the nurses to facilitate treatment of individuals regarding sexually transmitted infections, and childhood immunisations on these projects I assist as part of a team in managing a large caseload of the most vulnerable population (People experiencing homelessness, AOD use, Mental health issues, Incarceration, Involved with DCP, pregnancy) and manage a large case load of Aboriginal/Torres strait islander cases.
  • Liaison between the nurse, patient and other health professionals for treatment and full health screening.
  • Liaise and attend in person with other organisations to facilitate treatment for the individual this includes (GP’S metro wide, Aboriginal Medical services, Metro wide hospitals, Department of Justice, Department of Child Protection case workers, Homelessness services, Alcohol and drug support services, Homelessness support agencies such as Ruah, Tranby, Beacon, Passages and Homeless health care.
  • Deliver education sessions on health with Women at refuge centres and external services.
  • Home visits to cases and contacts to facilitate treatment and testing
  • Organising transportation to GP or organising Cab vouchers.
  • Presenting to the courthouses if the case if due to appear to serve them with a sensitive letter.

  • Liaise with throughout pregnancy, Syphilis in pregnancy cases is monitored throughout their entire pregnancy and after baby is born to reduce chance of reinfection/ early detection
  • Provide education on serious effects of syphilis to the unborn child. Follow up to ensure attendance of all appointments and receive re-testing every 3 months.
