Personable and passionate student nurse who is looking to pursue a graduate program under the Ramsay Health Care team. The ability to work within a graduate program satiates my continual desire to expand clinical knowledge, ultimately with the goal of improving patient outcomes and my own practice. Being exposed to a wide variety of different placements as a student, in combination with the textbook knowledge learnt has left me with a strong skill set that I am eager to further refine with the Ramsay team.

Public Rehabilitation, Ward D0: Joondalup Health Campus, June 2023

My first placement as a student enrolled nurse was undertaken at the public rehabilitation ward under the Ramsay Cadetship program. Working within my scope of practice I completed clinical skills such as:

• Assessing, monitoring, and documenting vital signs, including manual blood pressures. Assessing any signs of potential deterioration and informing the RN while implementing nursing interventions.
• Assisting with the admission and discharge process of patients
• Assisting with patient activities of daily living (ADLs) while still promoting their independence. These activities included showering, toileting, oral care, eye care, and feeding.
• Completion of neurovascular and neurological observations
• Completing patient progress notes in an accurate and objective matter
• Assisting with the falls risk assessment and management plan (FRAMP) and ensuring minimum interventions were implemented with all patients.
• Completing comprehensive skin checks and educating patients on the importance of pressure area care compliancy.
• Taking blood glucose and ketone levels
• Maintaining high standards of infection control and adhering to any additional precautions
• Delivering handover using the ISOBAR format

Day Procedure Unit: Joondalup Health Campus, 27/11/2023 - 17/12/2023

• Administration of medication to patients, including oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, buccal, and suppository routes
• Completing patient admissions and the required documentation
• Pre and post operative vital signs
• Performing a 12 lead ECG
• Completing bladder scans
• Assisted with PEG care and feeding
• Viewing colonoscopy, gastroscopy, direct current cardioversion, and angiogram procedures
• Wound care and simple dressing changes, including appropriate documentation within the wound management plan

Primary Health Care REACH Clinics, 31/10/2023 - 9/11/2023

REACH Population Health Checks

• Visiting shopping centres and providing health promotion material to clients regarding Type 2 diabetes and the associative risk factors. Participants also had their vital signs and BGL taken.

REACH Wandana Flats

• Performed health assessments out of a health clinic situated in a social housing complex within Subiaco, aiming to provide health education to socially vulnerable individuals. I also managed to provide wound care and simple dressing changes on a client who had a skin tear following a fall

REACH Community Child Health Clinics

• Working closely with two registered nurses who complete home visits to Aboriginal families, this involved delivering atraumatic and family centred care within the home setting.
