Baai Alkebulan House

Volunteering at Baai Alkebulan African Library, Art and History Museum. An African owned and managed space for African, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.


Every week Baai Alkebulan:

• Improve students’ academic performance by providing CALD tutors outside the pressure of a school environment.

• Expand young people’s knowledge and connection to community with programs on African history and culture.

• Host reading groups for kids to develop new skills and learn about themselves.

• Connect young people to sport and culture through excursions around the western suburbs.


Every week I spent time at the library and assisted in holding reading groups for mature aged people, assist in the facilitation of Ethiopian Coffee ceremonies, sit down with kids and read and write stories, connected with young people and shared culture and knowledge.
