Working at Coles has allowed for me to obtain certain knowledge, skills and understanding:

-Operating bakery specific equipment, manual and electronic jacks, with experience of breaking pallets.

-Cashier work- money handling and customer interaction.

-Duty/assistant managing- response to customer concerns with friendly and knowledgeable support. Training new employees.

Coles has placed me on part-time employment, maxing my hours out each week (38 hours). This position requires 4am starts and to work nine or ten hours a day if needed/requested to stay back.

This position as a Christmas Casual was a step after graduating to see what work i would like and to see how i perform for myself.

-Understanding customer specific demands and catering to the best of my/the stores ability.

-Recommending complementary purchases to customer (understanding their value) and therefore increasing revenue

Although I spent a short time in hospitality i was able to learn (and maintain)

-Cash handling

-Multi-tasking and teamwork

-Accurate execution of instructions from people higher in charge

-Understanding of the importance of clean and safe workplaces
