- The Specialist Teacher is the central contact who coordinates a transdisciplinary team of allied health professionals to provide intervention to students with hearing loss and other neurodiversities within main stream education setting.
- Develop lesson plans and facilitate individual and small group intervention sessions based on social, emotional, physical and academic needs of the child and family.
- Administers standardised and informal assessments to establish the child's needs
- Liaise with allied health professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Psychologists to assess then formulate learning and developmental goals which form foundation for Individual Education Plan.
- Works alongside mainstream teachers and educational assistants to ensure individual learning/behavioural goals are transferred to the classroom and that classroom learning is integrated into individual goals.
