  • The Specialist Teacher is the central contact who coordinates a transdisciplinary team of allied health professionals to provide intervention to students with hearing loss and other neurodiversities within main stream education setting.
  • Develop lesson plans and facilitate individual and small group intervention sessions based on social, emotional, physical and academic needs of the child and family.
  • Administers standardised and informal assessments to establish the child's needs
  • Liaise with allied health professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Psychologists to assess then formulate learning and developmental goals which form foundation for Individual Education Plan.
  • Works alongside mainstream teachers and educational assistants to ensure individual learning/behavioural goals are transferred to the classroom and that classroom learning is integrated into individual goals.
  • Liaise with parents and teachers to monitor child's progress at home and at school; make amendments to the IEP based on feedback to optimise the child's learning and success.
